Pastor Search Information

Parkview Baptist Church is currently searching for its next pastor. Qualifications are based on 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. Responsibilities include preaching, pastoral care and overall leadership of the church’s strategy. This position is bi-vocational. Applicants may email their resume to PVBCLufkinPastorSearch@gmail.com. The Pastor Search Committee will be receiving resumes through October and then begin to review the applicants.

For applicants’ information, Parkview Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist Church, founded in the 1950’s and located in a neighborhood southwest of downtown Lufkin. The church property includes 5 acres of land, parking for 150, sanctuary space for 160, a fellowship hall, Sunday School space for 120 and church office space. For the last few decades, it has averaged in the 70’s in its morning worship service and in the 50’s in Sunday School. Parkview experienced a downturn over the last 5 years due to a number of factors, including the pandemic and the departure of two pastors. It currently averages 33 in morning worship and 22 in Sunday School. The church has no debt and is in good financial standing.

In conjunction with its transitional pastor, Darryl Smith, and Unity Baptist Association, the church entered a process of revitalization in 2022. Extensive work was done on evaluating the church’s history, current dynamics and surrounding community. The Revitalization Team recommended a strategy moving forward, which the church adopted and is implementing (their report and recommendations may be viewed under the LINKS tab). The church is committed to this new vision. As a part of that revisioning, Sunday School space has been renovated to accommodate for future growth, and members are creating connecting points with their community and circles of influence.

The members of Parkview Baptist Church are looking for a pastor to come alongside them and join them as they become “A Place of Refuge: Centered on Christ, Secured by Relationships and Extending out to Others.”
